Language Assistant - **Lekwungen members only

Language Assistant

        

Temporary, Casual                                                                      $20.00/hour

Full time: 32 hours per week

 

In collaboration with Director of Education and the Language Expert, the Language Assistant is responsible for documenting the Lekwungen language as recorded by the Expert. The language assistant is responsible for:

 

  • Reviewing dictionary entries with the Expert to ensure they fit within the corresponding example sentences;
  • Working with the Language Expert to review the spelling of words;
  • Ensuring any updates, changes or additions are added to the language database;
  • Conducting word searches within the language database;
  • Participating in training sessions that help the language department in the accurate documentation of the Lekwungen language.

 

Successful candidates will:

 

  • Be of Lekwungen descent
  • Be willung to work 8 hours per day, 4 days per week
